APPELLATE DECISIONS:  In recent years John R. Murphy has represented clients in successful appeals before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the South Dakota Supreme Court.  In 2009 and 2010 he successfully represented John Graham in two federal appeals  (click on the John Graham tab, above, for more details).  In United States v. Mendoza-Larios and Joaquin Naranjo, 416 F.3d 872 (8th Cir. 2005), our client's federal criminal convictions for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine were reversed.  In State v. Patten, 2005 SD 32, the South Dakota Supreme Court reversed our client's criminal convictions for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.   In In re Adoption of H.L.C., 2005 SD 110, 706 N.W.2d 90 (S.D. 2005), the South Dakota Supreme Court reversed a decision that had resulted in the termination of our client's parental rights.  And, in Shore v. Cruz, 2003 SD 81, 667 N.W.2d 312 (S.D. 2003), the South Dakota Supreme Court vacated a protection order entered against our client.

New Developments:  Check out our new page entitled "John Graham."  This page covers matters related to John Graham, a man charged with first degree murder who is being represented by John Murphy.  Mr. Murphy has sucessfully had murder charges brought against Mr. Graham dismissed twice.   The case is presently pending in both state and federal courts.
.Breaking News:  On February 3, 2010, after the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeal denied the government's petition for rehearing en banc in the John Graham murder case, the federal government dismissed the indictment against Mr. Graham.  Mr. Graham is no longer subject to federal prosecution and will now fight these charges in state court in July of 2010.
